Oasi del Pianettino farm is a traditional farm of southern Tuscany: built around the first half of the twentieth century, it is well-known today for its organic produce (CCPB certified) of extra virgin olive oil, almond tree cultivation for different uses, cereal and forage cultivation.
A propitious weather, unpolluted air and rich soil are the sole and necessary elements for a rich, tasty and genuine production.
But Oasi del Pianettino's flagship is the selective breeding of Appenninica breed of sheep.
This breed is famous for its heavy and particularly tasty lamb used in the ancient cooking of central Italy. This type of lamb is today waiting for the PGI certification with the denomination "Agnello dell'Italia centrale" (Central Italy Lamb).
In order to reach this goal, Oasi del Pianettino cooperates with a network of producers and with Perugia University Department of Zootechnology for improving the diffusion of Apennine breed to the modern consumer, who is often oriented to buy imported products of lower quality.
Mr Inchingolo, the farm owner, will be glad to put at your disposal all his experience as a breeder and agriculturist, to show you how all the productive stages and the daily work are done and let you live a truly Tuscan day.
The farm vegetable garden is at the guests' disposal, and soon will be possible to buy typical and organic products of Tuscan cooking and enjoying savoury tastings of local organic food.
